As some of you know I bought an Audi A6 Avant. If you don’t then read those posts and see how much I love it.
This car came with Bose *oooooh aaaaah shiny* but 2004 Bose Symphony means that not only is it all proprietary bs electronics, but also they used fiber optics in the system which mean either tons of money to use aftermarket parts that are compatible or replace with factory parts.
Sadly a few teeth are corroded and broken off because of water damage. So I tried to see if I could remove and replace teeth to save the money f buying another and make the amp last a while longer. Sadly that is a no. The teeth are formed into the connector and all soldered on at the same time.
Oh well they aren’t too pricey on eBay, but still money I could have used on other things.
Bonus lunch pic
SO MUCH AMP

Getting a replacement amp seems like a safer bet even if you could replace the teeth, because who knows what else the water damage may have done to it.

This the interim car before the TVR?
Also, have you sold the GTO? I never saw a post about it, if you did.

This is the interim car and what I will drive to keep the TVR not broken
Also no not yet, but now I can push harder to sell it since I have something else to readily drive.

I know, but it was worth a try to me

I’ve done the bypass on this amp before, it’s not the worst thing ever but you will be replacing speakers and either buying a head unit adding a decent line out converter for your factory stereo.

Getting an Audi to drive while your TVR is broken is almost as dumb as having two BMWs.

But the Audi can tow the TVR if need be

Naw I don’t want to spend that kind of money when I can just get another amp on eBay for dinner money.

For sure. I f it turned out to be easy, then maybe you could’ve gotten it working again for almost nothing.

Speaking of Bose, I can recommend these guys. They’re the go to folks in the C4 vette community for resurrecting Bose stuff that most all tho se cars had. I used them to resurrect the Bose control module on my 93 vette after a water jug tipped over and leaked down on it on the way to the lake one day.

Cool! Thanks for the lead. If I need more than an amp then I will hit them up

You can also add a Denison unit that will allow you to add inputs and will tap into the fiber connections. If you need additional inputs that is. I freaked out when I found out our Q7 had fiber optics running throughout. But the factory units are decent enough. Not much need nowadays to go the aftermarket stereo route.

My buddy was talking about that. He got a cheap Chinese knock off of one for his 911.

The Denison units are pretty good. Quality construction, but you pay for it.
